Stroke Association- Opposite hand day on Wednesday 19th April 2017
On the first Wednesday back at school after the Easter break, we are having a special sponsored day in school where children will be asked to use their opposite hand for certain activities. While this will be fun, it will also to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by many people each year who have suffered from a Stroke. The children will be bringing home a sponsor form and envelope over the holidays to collect sponsors for the event. The money raised for the Stoke Association will help support and rehabilitate people after having a stroke. This is a very good cause chosen by the children as a stroke can happen to anyone at any age and many of them know, or know of someone who has been affected.

Eco Council

Eco Council went to Leeds Civic Hall to receive our certificate for Leeds Sustainable Schools. We voted in the council chambers on issues affecting us in the Leeds Healthy Schools initiative. Our role is to help improve and protect the environment both in school and the wider community. We have been busy checking the classrooms for recycling opportunities, ensuring taps are turned off and that the lights are not on if the class is empty. We weigh the amount of waste in the black bins ,which is not recycled and the class with the least waste over a term wins an extra playtime! We have been giving stickers out to Key Stage 1 children who use the green bins correctly on the playground for their fruit and vegetable waste.

CLEAN AIR WEEK.      GREEN DAY.       2017
During Clean Air Week we encouraged everyone to leave their cars at home or to
park and stride to and from school.Thank you to everyone who joined in.

Green Day was held in June and the Groundwork Leeds Team and Leeds Waste Advisors officers were in school all day delivering assembly and workshops. All classes took part in activities aimed at how we can look after our environment both locally and globally.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of
all children, and expects our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
